In every transformation project, the analysis of Human Capital is essential: the challenge is not to know whether the transformation is possible from a “Business” point of view, but to verify that the skills present are aligned with the needs. The questions to be answered: Do we have the “human” resources for this transformation? What development or recruitment actions do we need to implement in the short and medium term? How much will it cost?

The challenge
The company, active in oil and gas distribution worldwide, has grown to several thousand employees in the space of five years.
In today’s energy environment, the retail business is evolving rapidly, and managers need to discover new trends, gather and analyze information, and make business decisions.
In addition to traditional operations management skills, a new set of skills is needed to support and develop the business. To ensure that critical roles are assigned to the right people with the right skills, and to guide investment in people development in line with these transformational needs, we were called in.
The result
The whole project took less than three months. After identifying a specific critical role and carrying out a survey of a dozen Directors, we collected the competency profiles of 140 Managers in 26 countries.
Managers were trained to validate their subordinates’ self-assessed skill levels to ensure data quality, consistency and a high participation rate (over 98%).
The data processing carried out by Skillspotting’s consultants provided a precise and reliable view of skills, with a view to implementing pragmatic individual and collective training programs. The organization was able to accelerate its development program while reducing the risk of losing business.
